Many of us who suffer from wanderlust tend to dream of visiting cities and countries that are perhaps thousands of miles away. While I’m of course all for traveling the world, sometimes there are other hidden gems waiting to be explored… and they’re much closer than you think.
I recently stumbled upon an article from the Huffington Post with some tips for getting a cheap hotel room. While they gave some sound advice, to me it seemed that they had really only hit the tip of the iceberg. We all know that it’s best to travel light, so it’s important to find items that are lightweight and compact while still providing ultimate functionality. Since I’ve been in the midst of planning my upcoming backpacking trip to Europe, I began thinking of the various travel gadgets I might need to invest in before I step on that flight next September. They say that sometimes the planning is almost just as fun as the trip itself, and I have to say that I whole-heartedly agree. I recently was researching some smaller picturesque European cities, and I instantly fell in love with their charm. I began dreaming of exploring quaint towns such as Rothenberg ob der Tauber, Cesky Krumlov, Hallstatt, Lucerne, Basel, Colmar, and Bruges. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a fascination with travel, language, and culture. I’ve always been eager to see new places and experience new things. My true travel journey began when I went to Germany for spring break my freshman year of college. Once I stepped off that plane in Frankfurt, I felt so free and so at home. A year and a half later I was on my way to Spain for a semester abroad, and soon enough I found myself in Costa Rica and then finally Italy.
