St. Louis 2015 | Trip Report

I recently returned from a quick weekend trip to St. Louis to visit some friends, which meant a lot of firsts for me: my first time seeing the Mississippi River, my first time to the state of Missouri, and my first time ever to the great city of St. Louis. Continue reading

Score Great Accommodations for Less | Travel Tips

I recently stumbled upon an article from the Huffington Post with some tips for getting a cheap hotel room. While they gave some sound advice, to me it seemed that they had really only hit the tip of the iceberg. A few of my “go-to” tricks weren’t mentioned, so I’ve decided to share what strategies and tools I use when trying to figure out my travel accommodations without completely breaking the bank. Continue reading

Travel Essentials | Europe 2016

We all know that it’s best to travel light, so it’s important to find items that are lightweight and compact while still providing ultimate functionality. Since I’ve been in the midst of planning my upcoming backpacking trip to Europe, I began thinking of the various travel gadgets I might need to invest in before I step on that flight next September. Okay, perhaps “need” is taking it a bit far, so let’s just think of this as more of a wish-list. Without further adieu, here are some items I’m hoping to have in tow when I embark on my journey next fall. Continue reading

Planning the Route & Itinerary | Europe 2016

They say that sometimes the planning is almost just as fun as the trip itself, and I have to say that I whole-heartedly agree. I recently was researching some smaller picturesque European cities, and I instantly fell in love with their charm. I began dreaming of exploring quaint towns such as Rothenberg ob der Tauber, Cesky Krumlov, Hallstatt, LucerneBasel, Colmar, and Bruges.  These cities are what has inspired me to get back to Europe, and so I decided to build my backpacking itinerary around them. Continue reading

Trip Report | Italy 2012

See, this is why I should have started my travel journal/blog a bit sooner. Luckily, I jotted down some notes while I was traveling in Italy, but I still wish I had properly journaled everything in much greater detail. Just as a quick background, I went to Italy in March 2012 (three whole years ago?!) to visit my friend Laura, who was an Italian study abroad student while I was in Spain. We ended up being placed at the same university and our programs frequently planned outings together. We’ve been dear friends ever since! Continue reading

The Dates are Booked! | Mexico 2016

I’m really excited because today we finally got to put one of our wedding gifts to use… booking our trip to Mexico!  Two of our dear friends were kind enough to gift us accommodations for 4 nights in Playa del Carmen, and we now have our official dates reserved. Even though it’s still nearly a year away, I’ll be thankful for having an exotic locale to escape to when it’s freezing and snowing here in Wisconsin. It’ll be a nice relaxing vacation, with hopefully a side trip to Cozumel and lots of margaritas on the beach. Continue reading

This is the Beginning of Many New Adventures | Europe 2016

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a fascination with travel, language, and culture. I’ve always been eager to see new places and experience new things. My true travel journey began when I went to Germany for spring break my freshman year of college. Once I stepped off that plane in Frankfurt, I felt so free and so at home. A year and a half later I was on my way to Spain for a semester abroad, and soon enough I found myself in Costa Rica and then finally Italy. I felt nothing could get in the way of fulfilling my wanderlust… Continue reading
